Climate & Sustainability is a focus area in a series of events leading up to the next Munich Security Conference in 2022.

This year’s Challenges Annual Forum (CAF21Berlin) gathered partners and key stakeholders from across the globe in a virtual event to discuss and recommend how peace operations could address climate and environmental security risks and opportunities more effectively.

adelphi and PIK (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research) presented Weathering Risk at three sessions during Geneva Peace Week.

This high-level side event at COP26 set out an evidence-based, coherent narrative on climate, peace and stability. Hosted by Germany, adelphi and the Munich Security Conference, with Luxembourg, Nauru, and the United Arab Emirates, the event aimed to build on multilateral momentum to establish leadership and guiding principles for climate action which can advance peace and stability.

This virtual event demonstrated how effective engagement on climate change and security must build on integrated approaches and partnerships to facilitate action in regions vulnerable to climate-related security risks.

PIK presented Weathering Risk in the Geneva Peace Week Podcast Series on assessing the risks of climate change related conflict.

Weathering Risk was presented as part the session on "Climate and Conflict - Big Data Applications for Climate-Conflict Research and Action” during the Data for Peace Dialogue series by the NYU Center on International Cooperation.

During the Berlin Climate and Security Conference 2021, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) hosted the panel discussion “Making Sense of Climate Data for Peacebuilding”, in which Weathering Risk was presented.

The Berlin Climate and Security Conference is the global meeting space to discuss how climate change is affecting peace and security.
