Working in (and on) conflict: how climate and humanitarian action can support peace
Co-hosted with the UN System Staff College, this session targeted practitioners, donors and researchers working at the intersection of climate, peace and security. This includes UN agencies, funds and programmes, international non-governmental organisations (INGOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society organisations (CSOs) operating at the national and local levels.
The outcomes of the session are as follows:
- Increased understanding of the importance and benefits of integrated action that jointly addresses climate impacts and humanitarian needs, setting the foundations for sustainable development and peace;
- Increased awareness of entry points to integrate climate considerations into humanitarian work;
- Increased integration and collaboration across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus in dealing with the impacts of climate change;
- Integration of humanitarian practitioners in the growing climate, peace and security network.
